Bogwood Sculpture by Ronnie Graham
Ronnie began carving in Belfast in 1980---as a welcome release from the
tensions of the time. It soon became an obsession and after discovering the
merits and qualities of bogwood, he used nothing else. He moved to the West
coast of Ireland in 1985 specifically to develop his sculpture and it
remains his primary passion. 
Following a series of group shows in the
1980's, he held his first solo exhibition in Galway in 1991 and has
exhibited widely ever since , with shows in Belgium, France, Germany, USA,
England and throughout Ireland. Birds, faces, figures and the abstract form
the bulk of the work, though he is constantly attempting to take the 5000
year-old material to new and unique levels sometimes with the addition of a
secondary material (stone, leather, copper, barbed-wire ) for effect.
